02/17/10 Crazy Love - Overwhelmed by a Relentless God - Francis Chan

A huge view of God changes everything.

A higher view causes a response toward him.

Ecc 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

Stop Talking AT God

Mat 6:7 And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Lev 16:1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before Jehovah, and died;

How many people today are dying because of the way that they approach the Lord?

When you pray you are entering into God's presence, even praying at the dinner table. Be cautious how you enter into His presence. I dare you to walk in there with a cocky attitude, as if he owes you something. We can approach boldly, but there is a difference between cocky and bold.

How do you see God?
When was the last time you were amazed by God, not because of what He did but just because He is God. When was the last time you just thought about how big He is.

People are amazed by the oval office, it is just a room. Are you amazed by God?

He created it all, do you really want to pray at Him.

RC Sproul, "Men are never duly touched and impressed with a conviction of their insignificance, until they have contrasted themselves with the majesty of God."

Rom 1:19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
Rom 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

God didn't have to make so many different types of bananas, etc.

Psa 19:1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Psa 19:2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
Psa 19:3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.

Seek and you shall find. What are you searching for, because you will find it.

He wants to reveal Himself to us. We have spiritual amnesia - we forget how big God is.

When we become comfortable and familiar with God we tend to forget how amazing He is. If your high view of God doesn't affect your daily life then it just another word in the sand.

We get so focused on the things that we do not have, that we get dissatisfied with God. Instead of focusing on what we do have.

We have to break the routine constantly. Jesus and the disciples were always moving and uncomfortable. He is more concerned with you commitment level not your comfort level.

Sometimes you need to take an un-calculated risk and step out. (Larry Burkett) I want my life to be one that depends on God not money.

God

What comes to your mind when you see that?
Father
All
Amazing

You are a creator God, give me a whole new experience with you God.

We need to think about who we are speaking to when we pray.
Think of how He is described in Revelation.

Exo 3:4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am."
Exo 3:5 Then he said, "Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground."
Exo 3:6 And he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

Isa 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Isa 6:2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
Isa 6:3 And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!"
Isa 6:4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.
Isa 6:5 And I said: "Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!"

To the Jews when they said something three times it represents perfection.

Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."
Rev 4:2 At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne.
Rev 4:3 And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald.
Rev 4:4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads.
Rev 4:5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God,
Rev 4:6 and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind:
Rev 4:7 the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight.
Rev 4:8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"
Rev 4:9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
Rev 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
Rev 4:11 "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."

Lev 19:2b
Lev 19:2 "Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.

God is Holy, eternal, all knowing, just, all powerful.

God is the only being that is good and the standard is set by Him. When you get your own universe you can set the standards. When we disagree with God we are the one who has to change. It is hard to understand how much God hates sin.

Pro 8:13 The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.

You don’t get to decide who God really is.

It is encouraging to worship a God that you can't exaggerate.

Psa 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Psa 102:12 But you, O LORD, are enthroned forever; you are remembered throughout all generations.

Psa 147:4 He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names.
Psa 147:5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

Heb 4:13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Mat 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

God does what He wants to do.

Psa 115:3 Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.
